As the sun rudely invades the room, her time in dream-land is up. She parts her gently-M-shaped lips ever so slightly to let out a grunt and a sigh and checks for the time on her phone. Unwillingly, she pushes her blanket aside and sits up with a slight hunch, seemingly ready to dive back into the cushiness of the bed. Her soft rippled hair was hanging over her face and her sleepy, dreamy eyes. With much effort, she pushes herself off the comfort of her nest and searches for her clothes.

“What shall I wear today? Decisions, decisions, decisions…”, she thought to herself. Without much hesitation, she pulls out a long flowy dark blue dress and a black jacket that she bought the other day after much contemplation in the store. She grabs her toiletries and heads for the bathroom where she brushed her pearly whites, washed her face and changed into her clothes.

Going back to her room after her daily bathroom routine, she stands in front of the speckled mirror with her hair straightener, she is ready to do her hair. Carefully, she  places her black hair in between the two iron, straightening only the top part of her hair. Though her hair was all set to go, she was not quite done yet. Her face needed some touching up. And so, she drew her eyeliner, applied her sun screen and glazed her lips with a thin coat of lip butter. Smacking her lips, she is all set to face the world as she picks up her bag and closes the door behind her.

1. New panties. 3 for $10 kind. I will probably get a whole bunch of it in GO tmr. Some of my panties should never see daylight ever again. Wear and throw away during the trip. Period.
2. Borrow a bigger luggage from aunty. Then maybe extort money from her. KIDDING, she promised me, I don’t extort. Not so thick skinned anyway.
3. Moisturizer, sun block, lip balm.
4. Small bottles to put shampoo and body wash.
5. Zip lock bags, I think.
6. ALTER MY JEANS AND CARDIGAN. WAHLAO EH PROCRASTINATE SO MUCH.
7. Clean up my room. Damn shit messy. Parents keep nagging about it.

Super excited about this trip, despite knowing I will probably come back as a broke. Britney Spears, domestic flight, transportation and accommodation can burn a hole in the wallet before even stepping into down under. But, I can’t be fucked, at worst, I go beg on the streets if I really do run out of cash. OH, maybe can go to Crown for a few games. J/k. That’s why I put shopping in the last couple of days. Main aim is to see the attractions and food and alcohol (WAHAHA), not shopping. MUST CURB THE TEMPTATION OF SHOPPING.

If you watch American Idol, you will know that they have free land line voting system for their viewers. This implementation opens the door for people who watch the show, but are not willing to spend the money, to cast their votes for the contestants they root for. This way, everybody gets to vote without ever spending a single dime. But because in Singapore, I believe most of the voters are infatuated young and stupid teenage girls, who spend tons of money on voting to keep their idol on their TVs. That’s where the whole purpose of getting the best talent out of this show is being defeated.

The young female voters probably cast their votes based on looks of their male idols and totally disregard the singing, which is suppose to be the main focus of the whole show. So even though how horrendous their singings are, they will still deaf-ly punch in the numbers of their idols and cast their votes into the waste land of telecommunications. Males on the other hand, are maybe more practical. They know by spending their money on voting on the female contestants won’t get them anywhere near their idols. So might as well, spend it on themselves or their future girlfriends.

The second fatal flaw of the whole show is probably our judges. I despise Ken Lim’s comments even though he makes the most sense out of the three. 99% of their comments are about the contestants’ looks, dressing and how to sell their “package”. Like okay, dudes and dudette, I know entertainment is all about looks, but seriously, this is a singing competition too. If this is a competition about “How to Sell Your Package” then I totally understand it, but it is not. So it is definitely only right that the judges comment more about singing! Their comments should rly contain more about the singing, be it the pitching, the singing techniques, or whatever their experiences in their industry have taught them how to differentiate bad / good singing. I think they have tons to learn from American Idol judges who really take the effort to comment on the singing.

Most of the comments are like “… wow you look rly good/sexy/hot tonight!”, “…you’re the cool cat…” (this statement is as meaningless as ‘boomz’ and ‘shingz’), “…you shld know you have to appeal to the audiences…”

What the fricking frack can? The only way to sell “your package” is to attach a fucking dick to every one of the female contestants. Because the only voters are probably the females who will only vote for the male contestants. So yes, a dick will probably solve the “package” problem. Oh, maybe that’s what Ken Lim has been trying to tell the girls!!! Oh my day, so a dildo solves all the problem………. Brilliant.

On the morning of 26 June 2009, I woke up with 3 SMSes telling me Michael Jackson passed away. I was truly in the state of shock at that moment for the news was too sudden. I took a while to realise this legend is really gone. That’s when I teared. I teared not because I’m a big fan of his, but because I felt really sad and sorry for him. The media and public weren’t kind to him for the past decade (or more?); laughing at his face, accusing him of being a pedophile, basically probing too much into his personal life. And just when he is in preparation to prove to the world that he worths more than what the media has been talking about him, he departs this life.

It is just so wasted, a man with talent like his just had to die this young. Life is fragile I guess… All it takes is a condition like cardiac arrest to take away your life, like a candle in the wind, the flame is gone.

I wish for a million dollar cheque to fall out of the sky. So that I could break out of this small island and into the world of the unknown which excites and intrigue me, yet at the same time, makes me nervous at the thought of it.
